Job Summary
Our client a world leader in payments innovation, is looking to recruit a Software Architect to help in the creation of innovative payment technologies that will revolutionize the payments industry. If you have a number of years’ experience working on complex systems and have a keen interest in the latest technologies and methodologies, this is the right opportunity for you. You will be using this knowledge to generate technical designs for projects as well as developing these designs and integrate the technologies as needed. Crafting the right architecture to solve the problem at hand is only part of the architect’s role – daily interaction with the rest of the product and development teams means you will have the opportunity to contribute by acting as a point of reference to the different functions. Overall Responsibilities
- Be an expert in the general design and development policies employed within our development teams and be able to shape and improve these policies (such as developing with security, maintainability and performance in mind)
- Understand the highlevel objectives intended for our platforms and generate designs that are in line with these objectives
- Perform development work such as modification of platform modules and integration development with new technologies
- Have detailed expertise on core modules of the platform and be able to mentor other developers on their design and use
- Keep abreast of emerging technologies and propose technical projects taking advantage of such technologies when relevant
- Promote knowledge sharing within the development team such as by organising technical hands on sessions and generating technical documentation in order to increase the skill level of the team
- Assist in the recruitment of new developers by shaping the format of and performing technical interviews
Desirable skills & abilities
- A Computer Science degree or equivalent
- 8+ years’ experience with a broad range of technologies such as Java/J2EE, OO Design, multi-tier client/server designs, database technologies and APIs
- Experience designing largescale web architectures such as ecommerce or transactional systems
- Discipline to promote and maintain development policies and knowledge transfer across the development team
- Knowledge of financial services; experience in the payments industry preferred
- Strong organisational and project management skills; ability to work under tight deadlines and to prioritize under pressure
- Working experience in Agile practices will be considered an asset
