Senior Data Engineer / Tech Lead

We have a wide variety of complex data within the company, such as customer data, sensory data from our equipment, and data from our business processes. The imperative is to turn this data into a strategic asset, organize smarter through data-driven decisions, and develop innovative services. To achieve this, data must be brought together, modeled, and made accessible. This will be your main challenge!

Your job is to unlock all internal data as well as relevant external data and make it available within the organization. You will have a key role in maintaining and enhancing our Azure modern data platform by collecting, storing, and processing (big) data and streaming data. You will have a lot of freedom and responsibility to refine the structure and make technical choices yourself.

Specific responsibilities of the job:

• Acting as a trusted advisor for the Data Architect, with the ability to propose different approaches/architecture for the different solutions.
• Acting as a Technical Leader and mentor to the team members;
• Ability to proactively initiate positive changes, including optimizing, automating, and improving performance in the given solutions.
• Building, deploying, monitoring, and managing data pipelines into Azure.
• Build and implement efficient delta loads on all these data sources.
• Continuously monitor performance and quality control plans
• Employ scripting languages and tools to marry systems together and/or review existing integrations.

Education and experience

• Computer Science or Engineering education.
• Proven working experience as a Data Engineer (4+ years)
• Knowledge and exposure to data analysis, machine learning, or data science roles are a plus
• Azure Data Engineer Associate certification or similar is a plus
• Experience with databases, ETL frameworks, data models, containerization, and data formats such as JSON and Parquet
• Transport/Logistics industry experience is a plus.

Knowledge and skills

• Very good knowledge of SQL (MySQL, MSSQL, Oracle SQL, etc.)
• Good knowledge and understanding of Microsoft Azure features, in particular Azure Data Factory and Azure Data Lake.
• You are comfortable using CI/CD using tools like Azure DevOps
• Good knowledge of Phyton scripting language is a plus
• Excellent command of spoken and written English
