Job Summary

Our partner is the leading technology event in Eastern Europe, with more than 3,000 attendees from 25+ countries each year and inviting as speakers the most amazing founders, investors, and technology executives, with a vast majority for the first time in the region.
The mission is to bridge Eastern Europe to the rest of the world through events, knowledge, networking, business connections, and investments, while the vision is to accelerate the growth of the regional technology ecosystem by bringing together the most inspiring founders, successful investors, and innovative technical experts.
As an organization, they also started other initiatives such as Codiax (deep tech event for senior engineers), TEDx Eroilor (inspirational community event), syndicated investments via their Avalanche program, hosted corporate innovation programs for Flutter or co-organized events with Accenture, MSG Systems, Continental, ING Hubs and more.

We reached a phase where we want to open this role for an ambitious, curious (i.e. passion for tech & events), and detail-oriented individual to take over the following responsibilities:

  • Day-to-day management of the team and their results:
    • Work & support team members so that they achieve their goals;
    • Train replacements that can take over when a team member is on vacation;
    • Get closely acquainted with all tasks that happen within the company so that you can take over anything urgent.
  • Execute the plan agreed with the founders:
    • Executing means that you’ll be as hands-on as needed whenever there’s a need in any of the departments (business development, speaker acquisition, etc.);
    • We set the general direction together and we expect you to implement it;
    • The current setup includes 3 areas: own events, dedicated events, and other initiatives.
  • Overall company P&L responsibility and profitability:
    • Ensure each project hits its revenue & attendance goals;
    • Stick to the agreed-upon company budget to hit the profitability target.
  • You can recruit new team members who hit their goals out of the park and take things off your plate:
    • Once you see how we work, you’ll need to enforce the specific work culture both with existing and new team members;
    • Recruiting can be from personal networks or recommendations (preferred) or by finding freelance recruiters (when needed);
    • Develop an internship program to focus on extending the team before events and with the goal of finding talent that might be integrated into the team.

We will be screening for candidates who have chemistry with the founding team, have maturity and lack of ego, can identify and hire excellence, and it’s someone that we, the founders, can learn from. Here are a few other important things:

  • Strong work ethic- this is a high-profile role that will require hard work at times;
  • You are fast to reply to key stakeholders (email, SMS, WhatsApp, Slack, Instagram, etc.);
  • You follow through;
  • You have an entrepreneurial mindset and can think creatively to hit targets;
  • Tech savviness is your middle name (ability to learn new tools fast in order to work more efficiently)
  • You are flexible & adaptable
