What will you do?
The Senior System Engineer – High availability IT infrastructure works within the Software Delivery Platform team.
The Software Delivery Platform enables the delivery of on-premise Software Based Workflow Applications. This connects multiple tools and streamlines workflows and optimizes the productivity of our customers. For this, high availability is critical and will be part of your responsibilities.
You will be part of a team of approximately 10 engineers, working closely with other software teams across the different development sites in Europe and USA. As you will be working cross-site, traveling will be part of the job, approximately 10% of your time.
This role is really attractive for people that want to have freedom in their role and work within a small team on innovations with state-of-the-art tools to facilitate and automate the software delivery process. This role will be in direct contact with large industry names customers, so you will have a direct impact on how we try to serve our customers!
Responsibilities:
- You will be responsible for shaping the reliability of the on-premise software delivery platform into a Highly Available infrastructure, with aspects like zero-downtime upgrades, redundancy in various levels of the infrastructure (networking, storage, services), continuous backup strategies, disaster recovery scenarios.
- You will contribute to the software delivery platform with ‘Infrastructure as Code’, where all infrastructure is managed and tested with automated tools like Ansible and Prometheus, both during development as well as production (DevOps)
Qualifications
The ideal candidate enjoys working in a multi-disciplinary, high-tech, and international environment to tackle sophisticated technical problems. The successful candidate will possess the following combination of education and experience:
- Typically requires a Masters’ Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems or related discipline
- 5+ years experience developing and maintaining high availability IT infrastructure, e.g. in IT infrastructure organizations
- Experience working in multi-disciplinary projects (Software, Hardware, Service Delivery) across multiple sites.
- Proven background in Linux and automation/infrastructure as code.
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and Docker
- Experience with build environment and source control tools (GitLab, Jenkins, Artifactory)
