Working closely with the Head of R&D and other Development Managers, you will be leading a team of highly talented software engineers in the design, development, testing and maintenance of payment products. Overall Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and guidance to coach, motivate and lead team members to their optimum performance levels, with career development in mind
- Work with the Head of Research & Development to ensure availability of relevant skills and right development capacity to support the company’s product and technology development
- Participate in the recruitment process, screening applications and conducting candidate interviews as required
- Work with project managers to plan and execute projects, ensuring teams have appropriate specifications, direction, and resources to deliver projects effectively
- Work with other development managers to establish procedures and guidelines to ensure high quality deliverables
- Encourage a continuous improvement mentality within the development team and actively seek to increase efficiency and quality in a variety of ways including better processes, tools and improved skills
- Understands and subscribes to company values and culture, and works to actively promote and put them in practice within own team and throughout the company
Desirable skills & abilities
- A Computer Science degree or equivalent
- 5+ years’ experience in an application development role
- 3+ years’ experience in a management/leadership positions in a software development organisation
- A record of successful delivery of software applications as an individual, team leader and/or development manager
- Strong leadership, project management skills, time management, and problem solving skills
- Strong understanding of the software development cycle
- Good working experience in Agile practices is highly desirable
